Linkmify privacy policy

Last updated: October 31, 2026

Linkmify respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use our website (linkmify.com), the web app (app.linkmify.com) and the Chrome extension, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

Linkmify is operated by Alejandro Paladines, an individual based in Guayaquil, Ecuador. As the operator, Alejandro Paladines is responsible for the personal data described in this policy (in legal terms, the “controller”). This policy covers our website (linkmify.com), the web app (app.linkmify.com) and the Chrome extension.

For any question about this policy or your personal data, or to exercise your rights (section 15), write to privacy@linkmify.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in the following areas:

  • Account information. Your name and email address, and your password, which we store only as a secure hash, never in plain text. If you sign in with LinkedIn, we receive the details described in section 6. We also record when you accepted our Terms of Service.
  • Content you create or save. Ideas and instructions you type, your answers to clarifying questions, drafts and posts, your Voices (writing traits and the sample posts you provide), posts you paste into Inspiration, collections and the content you save to them, and images or videos you attach to posts.
  • Content saved with the Chrome extension. The page address, title, text and language of what you choose to save (see section 5).
  • Subscription information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment provider handles your payment (see section 10). We receive the details needed to manage your subscription, such as the plan, billing period and status. We never see your card number.
  • Support messages. When you contact support or report a bug, we receive your message, your email address, any images you attach and, for bug reports, technical context such as the page you were on.
  • Usage and technical data. In the app, limited usage data linked to your account, such as how many posts and AI edits you used in the current period (needed for plan limits), timestamps, technical logs and records of AI requests (see section 8).
  • Website analytics, only with your consent. See section 9.

3. How we use your information

We use this information to provide Linkmify: to run your account, save your content, write drafts and AI edits in your Voice, schedule and publish the posts you choose, apply your plan's limits, manage your subscription, answer support requests, send account emails (such as verification and password reset), and keep the service secure (for example, bot protection on sign-up, rate limits and abuse prevention).

We use aggregated usage data and, only with your consent, website analytics to understand what works and to improve Linkmify.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content for advertising.

4. Legal bases for processing

Where the law requires a legal basis for using personal data (for example, in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), we rely on the following:

  • Performance of our contract with you: to create and run your account, save your content, write drafts and AI edits, publish or schedule the posts you choose, apply your plan's limits, manage your subscription and answer your support requests.
  • Legitimate interests: to keep Linkmify secure and prevent abuse (for example, bot protection on sign-up, rate limits and technical logs), to manage the cost and reliability of AI requests, and to improve Linkmify with aggregated usage data. We weigh these interests against your rights, and you can object to this processing (section 15).
  • Consent: for website analytics with PostHog, and for connecting LinkedIn. You can withdraw your consent at any time with “Cookie settings” on our website or by disconnecting LinkedIn in your profile. Withdrawing it does not affect processing that took place before.
  • Legal obligations: to keep the records the law requires and to respond to valid requests from public authorities.

5. How the Chrome extension works

The Linkmify Chrome extension acts only when you ask it to: when you press “Capture page content” in the extension, or when you select text and choose “Add selection” in the right-click menu. A selection you add stays on your computer until you save it into a collection from the extension.

When you save something, the extension sends to Linkmify, over HTTPS: the page address (URL), the page title, the text of the page or of your selection, the page language, and the collection you chose. Images are not saved. Long pages are cut to your plan's limit, and the extension tells you when that happens.

The extension asks Chrome for these permissions, and uses each one only as described:

  • activeTab and scripting: to read the text of the tab you are on, only at the moment you press “Capture page content” or choose “Add selection”, and to show a short confirmation on that page.
  • contextMenus: to add the “Add selection” item to the right-click menu when you select text.
  • storage: to keep you signed in and to remember the collection you are saving to and the selections you haven't saved yet. This is stored on your computer, in Chrome's storage for the extension.
  • notifications: to tell you when you've signed in with LinkedIn, or when a capture didn't work.
  • identity: to open LinkedIn's sign-in window if you choose “Continue with LinkedIn”.

The extension has no access to the sites you visit until you press a button: it has no host permissions and no content scripts, it does not run on the pages you visit, and it does not read your browsing history, other tabs, form fields or passwords. It does not collect anything in the background and contains no analytics. It communicates only with Linkmify's sign-in and collections services, and with LinkedIn if you sign in with LinkedIn. We recommend that you do not save pages that show passwords or other sensitive data.

6. LinkedIn

LinkedIn is optional. You can use it to sign in to Linkmify and to publish posts to your LinkedIn profile. Both use the same authorization: when you choose “Continue with LinkedIn” or connect LinkedIn, LinkedIn asks you to allow Linkmify to use your basic profile, your email address and to post on your behalf.

From LinkedIn we receive your LinkedIn member identifier, your name, your email address, the address of your profile photo, and an access token with its expiry date. We never receive your LinkedIn password.

We use your profile details to create your account or sign you in (your LinkedIn photo can appear as your avatar). We use the access token only to publish the posts you choose, when you press “Post now” or at the time you scheduled (see section 7). We send LinkedIn the text of that post and the images or videos you attached to it. We do not read your feed, connections or messages, and we do not publish anything you did not publish or schedule.

You can disconnect LinkedIn at any time in your Linkmify profile; publishing then stays off until you connect it again. You can also remove Linkmify's access in your LinkedIn settings.

7. Scheduled publishing

Plans that include automatic publishing (currently Starter) let you schedule a post: you choose the post, the date and the time, and Linkmify publishes it to your LinkedIn profile at that time, using your LinkedIn connection, without any further action from you. Nothing is published unless you scheduled it or pressed “Post now”. Until then you can edit it, move it to another time or cancel the schedule.

If, at the scheduled time, LinkedIn is not connected, your LinkedIn connection has expired, or your plan no longer includes automatic publishing, the post is not published. It stays in Linkmify, marked as not published, and the Posts and Calendar pages show you which scheduled posts won't publish, so you can reconnect LinkedIn and publish or reschedule them. If LinkedIn is temporarily unavailable, we retry for a limited time (no later than one hour after the scheduled time); after that, the post is not published and is marked for your attention.

8. AI features

Linkmify's AI features (writing drafts, AI edits, reading your Voice, reading a post you paste in Inspiration and reading content you saved) are provided through the following AI providers, which our servers call through their APIs: Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, Google (Gemini API) and Groq. Each request goes to the provider assigned to that feature, or to a backup provider if the first one is unavailable.

For each request we send the text needed for it, which can include: your idea or instructions, your answers to clarifying questions, the content you saved and attached, the post you are editing, a post you pasted in Inspiration, and your Voice (its writing traits and the sample posts you provided). We do not send your password or payment details.

We keep technical records of AI requests (the feature, the model, the size and timing of the request, and technical details of the steps used to write it) to manage cost and reliability. AI output can be wrong or incomplete: you review every draft, and nothing is published unless you choose to publish it.

9. Website analytics and cookies

On our website (linkmify.com) we use PostHog, a product analytics service, only if you choose “Accept” in the cookie banner. If you choose “Reject”, or don't choose, PostHog is not loaded: no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to PostHog.

When you accept, PostHog collects: the pages you visit and the page you came from; clicks on links and buttons, including their visible text; where you click and how far you scroll on a page (heatmaps); actions such as choosing a plan's billing period, opening a question in the FAQ or changing the language; your browser, device type and screen size; the language of the page; and your approximate location (country and city), which PostHog estimates from your IP address. A random identifier is stored in a cookie on your device so that visits can be counted. We do not record your screen or sessions, and we do not send your name or email address to PostHog. PostHog processes this data for us in the United States.

If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, PostHog is not loaded even if you accept. The web app and the Chrome extension do not use analytics or advertising cookies.

You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page of our website. Our Cookie Policy lists everything we store on your device.

10. Third-party services

We use a small number of trusted service providers (“subprocessors”) to run Linkmify. They process your data only as needed to provide the service, under our instructions and written agreements, and we do not allow them to use your personal data for their own marketing.

  • AI providers: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google (Gemini API) and Groq. They receive the text needed for each AI request, as described in section 8.
  • Lemon Squeezy sells your subscription as our Merchant of Record. It handles your payment and billing details (name, email, address, country, payment method, and tax ID if you add one) on its own checkout, processes your payment, issues your receipts and handles applicable taxes. We never see your card number. Lemon Squeezy also processes this data under its own privacy policy.
  • DigitalOcean hosts our servers, databases and file storage in the United States. Your account, posts, Voices, collections, saved content and uploaded media are stored there.
  • Vercel hosts our website and web app and receives standard request data (such as IP address and browser information).
  • Resend sends our emails (account verification, password reset and welcome emails) and delivers the support requests you send from the app to our inbox. It receives your email address, your name and the content of those emails.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile protects sign-up from bots and receives technical signals (such as IP address) during the check.
  • LinkedIn receives the posts you choose to publish or schedule through Linkmify, and provides your basic profile if you sign in with LinkedIn (see section 6).
  • PostHog receives website analytics data, only if you accept analytics cookies (see section 9).

Section 11 explains where these providers process your data. You can ask us for the current list of subprocessors at privacy@linkmify.com.

11. Where your data is stored and international transfers

Linkmify stores and processes your data in the United States:

  • Servers, databases and backups: DigitalOcean, data center NYC1 (New York, United States).
  • File storage (images and videos you attach to posts, and your profile photo): DigitalOcean Spaces, region NYC3 (New York, United States).
  • Website analytics: PostHog, US Cloud (United States), only if you accept analytics cookies.
  • The other providers in section 10 (the AI providers, Lemon Squeezy, Vercel, Resend and Cloudflare) may process data in the United States and in other countries where they operate.

If you live outside the United States, this means your data is transferred to and processed in a country whose data protection laws may be different from, and may offer less protection than, those of your country. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers. You can ask us for more information about them at privacy@linkmify.com.

12. Security

We use industry standard safeguards to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration or disclosure, including access controls and encryption in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text. No method of transmission or storage is completely risk free, and we regularly review our practices.

If we become aware of a security incident that affects your personal data, we will notify you and the competent authorities where the law requires it.

You can help protect your account: use a strong password that you do not use elsewhere, and contact us at support@linkmify.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

13. Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Account and content: for as long as your account is open. Drafts, posts, Voices, collections, saved content and attached media that you delete in the app are deleted from it.
  • After you close your account: we delete or anonymize your data as described in section 14.
  • Backups: our backups are replaced on a rolling basis, so deleted data can remain in them for a limited time before it disappears.
  • Subscription records: we keep the subscription details linked to your account (plan, billing period and status) for as long as needed for accounting and to resolve disputes. Lemon Squeezy keeps the payment and tax records it needs as Merchant of Record, under its own policies.
  • Technical logs and AI request records: for as long as needed for security, cost control and reliability; then we delete or anonymize them.
  • Support messages: for as long as needed to answer you and keep a record of the request.
  • Website analytics: PostHog keeps them according to the retention settings of our PostHog project.

When we no longer need data, we delete or anonymize it, unless the law requires us to keep it.

14. Closing and deleting your account

You can ask us to close and delete your account at any time by writing to privacy@linkmify.com from the email address of your account. We may ask you to confirm the request so we know it comes from you.

If you have an active Starter subscription, cancel it first in your account (or ask us to in the same email), so you are not charged again.

Once the request is confirmed, we disable your account and delete or anonymize your personal data: your profile, drafts and posts, scheduled posts, Voices, collections and saved content, the images and videos you uploaded, and your LinkedIn connection. Posts you already published on LinkedIn stay on LinkedIn; you can delete them there. We may keep limited data when the law requires it or to resolve disputes, and copies in backups until they are replaced (section 13).

Uninstalling the Chrome extension removes the data it keeps in Chrome on your computer, but does not delete your Linkmify account.

15. Your rights and how to exercise them

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights over your personal data:

  • Access: ask what personal data we hold about you and receive a copy.
  • Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate data. You can change your name and profile photo yourself in your profile.
  • Deletion: ask us to delete your data (section 14).
  • Portability: receive the data you provided to us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Restriction and objection: ask us to limit how we use your data, or object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
  • Withdrawal of consent: where we rely on your consent, withdraw it at any time: for example, by rejecting analytics cookies in “Cookie settings” or by disconnecting LinkedIn in your profile.
  • Complaint: lodge a complaint with the data protection authority where you live or work. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.

How to exercise your rights: write to privacy@linkmify.com from the email address of your account, tell us which right you want to exercise and, if possible, which data it concerns. We may ask for information to confirm your identity before we act on the request. We will respond within 30 days; if a request is complex we may need more time, and we will tell you why. Exercising your rights is free, unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

If we cannot fulfill a request, in whole or in part, we will tell you why.

16. Children

Linkmify is not intended for children. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal data, contact us at privacy@linkmify.com and we will delete it.

17. Chrome Web Store transparency

The Linkmify extension is built to follow the Chrome Web Store's privacy and data handling policies. It acts only after an explicit action from you, such as pressing “Capture page content” or saving a selection you added from the right-click menu. We do not monitor your browsing, and the extension does not collect your activity or page content automatically or in the background. Data saved with the extension is used only to provide Linkmify's features to you, and is not sold or used for advertising.

18. Other sites and services

Our website, app and extension link to services run by other companies, such as LinkedIn, the Chrome Web Store and Lemon Squeezy's checkout. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them, and we are not responsible for their practices.

19. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice on our website or by email. Continued use of Linkmify after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy unless applicable law requires a different approach.
